Megabyte the Free Paper Model Toy Cat
We created this paper toy model with the 3d modeling and animation program called Imagine 3d (no longer available) which we have used since our Amiga days and when the software was called Turbo Silver! We used Paint Shop Pro to create the texture map. And, Pepakura Designer to unfold the object. All great Programs!
We spoil our kitty Megabyte mercilessly! What does Megabyte think of our cat paper model? He fights with it! He thinks it's real! We thought that maybe it was just Megabyte but no, we gave a model to a friend who had a cat and their cat did the same!
We consider this paper toy model a Cat Sculpture. We started by trying to replicate Megabyte in paper, but had problems capturing his fur patterns (we may release a different version later). So we used a pattern that is not really realistic for a house cat, but close. We did use Megabyte's eyes, nose and mouth and the inside of his ears with some tweaks.
BTW, Megabyte 1.0 was created to be printed out and built with just regular printer paper, the cheap kind. We used no special paper in any of the pictures. Also, it looks great printed in black and white! Enjoy!
